Admitted Student Checklist
You’ve earned admission to the University of Northern Colorado — congratulations! In the days and weeks leading up to your first day as a student, you’ll take crucial steps that will shape your UNC experience.
UNC's Free Application for Federal Student Aid school code is 00314. The FASFA opens October 1 each year.
Ursa is your online portal to accept your financial aid offer, register for classes, pay your bill and more.
After completing the FAFSA and all required paperwork, you’ll receive a Preliminary Award letter. Official Award letters are mailed in March. Check your Ursa account regularly for financial aid updates and notifications.
You’ll complete the FAFSA and the UNC Scholarship Application every year. We also encourage you to look for outside scholarship opportunities to lower your costs.
UNC has a variety of admitted student events to help you make your final decision. Another visit option is a Daily Tour, or, if you can’t make it in person, our virtual tour.
Meet fellow future Bears, find out why they are choosing or considering UNC, find a roommate and get connected with others with similar interests.
Your $200 nonrefundable deposit confirms your space in the class, and it is applied to your bill. We encourage you to submit this by May 1.
The sooner you apply, the better chance you have of getting one of your top housing preferences.
The ALEKS Math Placement Assessment is how UNC determines your placement for entry-level math and statistics courses.
Now that you're a Bear it's time to meet with your advisor and register for classes. Pick your studnet type to get started:
New Student Orientation is a program designed to familiarize new students with UNC’s
campus and resources, connect you with other Bears, and prepare you for a smooth transition
Once you've graduated, ask your high school to send your final official transcript, complete with your final GPA and graduation date, to UNC’s Office of Admissions (either electronically or by mail).
To get credit for AP/IB/concurrent courses, send those transcripts or scores to the Office of Admissions.
If you enroll in nine or more credit hours, you’ll automatically be enrolled in the UNC-sponsored health insurance plan unless you provide documentation that you have comparable insurance by the 10th day of classes of the semester you start.
