And You...What Can You Do?

ˇExpedition Yucatan! from Center for HSL on Vimeo.

This video explores University of Northern Colorado students' perspectives on a service-learning course on the Yucatan Peninsula offered by anthropologists Dr. Laura Vick (Peace College) and Mike Kimball (Northern Colorado).

The course is based in Yunku, a small Mayan village in the state of Yucatan. In brief, the students fell in love with the people of Yunku, learned an immense amount about contemporary Mayan culture, human ingenuity, leadership and intercultural exchange – all while running a summer camp for kids and sharing time with the community's young adults!

For more information on the trip from a students perspective, please take a look at the "UNC Life" page which contains stories, photos, and another short video. Yucatan's Story - UNC Life
