Excerpt from the 2005-2006 Club Sports Officer
Handbook:
UNC Club Sports are student-run and
student-funded organizations. The clubs provide the elected
officers with opportunities to acquire valuable life skills in
organization, working with diverse individuals, and leadership.
Each club, while reporting to the Coordinator of Intramural and Club
Sports, is responsible for it's own practice and game schedule,
equipment, apparel, and fundraising. Club Sports are student
organizations that have been established to promote and develop the
interests and skills of their members in a particular sport or
recreational activity. UNC Club Sports participants participate in
intercollegiate competitive sports, improve skill levels and overall
knowledge of sports, learn new sports, and develop friendships as they
enjoy group activities.
The basic philosophy and key to the success of
the program is the continued emphasis placed on student leadership,
participation, and competition.
Women's Lacrosse was the Club Sport of the Year
for 2001-2002 and shared the honor in 2000-2001. We anticipate
continuing the values and hard work that earned such status and hope to
be renamed Club Sport of the Year for the third year!
Some general requirements for
participants:
- All participants in club sports must be
registered for at least one UNC credit.
- All participants in Women's Lacrosse will pay
a small due of $100 per season (those involved in Fall Ball may pay
$50 in the fall and $50 in the spring).
- All participants in Women's Lacrosse will be
involved in fundraising. Money that is not fundraised will be
added to dues for the individual player.
- All participants in Women's Lacrosse will go
to practices and games unless school or prior engagements do not
permit. In such instances, the Coach and/or officers must be
notified.
