Statement on Virginia Tech Tragedy
April 16, 2007
Dear Campus Community,
Like many people across our nation and the world today, I am horrified by the unthinkable tragedy that has taken place at Virginia Tech University.
At the University of Northern Colorado, our thoughts and prayers are with the Virginia Tech community and the many people touched by today’s events.
As a public institution, we bear an enormous responsibility for providing a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors. We continually work to find the right balance between providing that safe environment and providing access to our campus. The events at Virginia Tech are a reminder that we must be more vigilant than ever.
For members of our campus community who would like to talk with a counselor about today’s events, I encourage you to contact the UNC Counseling Center at 351-2496. More information about the center’s services is on the Counseling Site.
Sincerely,
Kay Norton
