About Shane

My name is Shane, and I use he/him/his pronouns. This will be my third year at the University of Northern Colorado, and I couldn't be happier! I am a double major in both Economics and International Affairs emphasizing in public policy, international economics, and the European area. I also have three minors: Music, Political Science, and Leadership Studies. After living in a small town my entire life, I have enjoyed my past three years living in Greeley (which to me is the "big city"). I felt a calling to come to UNC when I visited campus for a scholarship celebration. This calling has turned into a deep love for the campus and the people involved with the university. I have continued to be involved on campus by working in Dining Services, New Student Orientation, Housing and Residential Education, and the Office of Admissions. I am involved in many clubs and organizations like campus ministries, American Sign Language Club, intramural sports, Community Council, the Residence Hall Association, and National Residence Hall Honorary. This involvement has created a passion for student success and higher education grow. After graduating with my bachelor's degrees, I hope to continue on to earn my master's in higher education.

3 Facts

1. A bear is my favorite animal (it's a coincidence UNC's mascot is a bear)! I am definitely happy to represent my school and favorite animal on my UNC swag!
2. I am an Eagle Scout, being a part of Boy Scouts for twelve years I am super proud of this accomplishment! It has definitely played a huge part in my love for the outdoors and (hopefully) dependable preparedness.
3. I have a Spotify playlist of songs from musicals that lasts over 16.5 hours, and those are just my favorites!

Favorite Place on Campus

The Government Publication section of Michener Library! It is a hidden gem of the library and is a great place to study, hang out, and has an amazing selection of historical documentation from the government. You can read actual court cases from 1803! How cool?!
