My name is Lizzie, and I am a senior at the University of Northern Colorado. I am an Acting major with a minor in dance. I was born in East Meadow, New York then moved to Georgia when I was 6 years old, and I've lived there ever since. After being recruited at a theatre conference in Georgia to come to UNC, I came to see the campus. I had a gut feeling that UNC was going to become my home. Other than my brother, I am the first member of my family to come to college, so there was a huge learning curve on top of an altitude change. I have been involved with many organizations on campus including Housing and Residential Education as a Resident Assistant and Diversity Mentor, New Student Orientation as a Senior Orientation Leader, Alpha Psi Omega Fraternity, SOAPbox Productions, Unity Theatre Group, and I serve as Vice President of the American Sign Language club on campus. Through UNC, I have also been connected with many great opportunities in the Greeley community and work at the Union Colony Civic Center as a technician and house manager, which is great experience as a theatre student. I hope to eventually own my own theatre company, working primarily in theatre geared toward children by producing educational shows, as well as providing arts classes to children who cannot afford them.
1. I collect cool socks. I try to dress super professionally, but odds are I am probably
wearing amazing socks underneath. My favorites have the Mona Lisa on them!
2. My favorite food is broccoli, and it has been since I was a kid. A lot of other kids thought that made me weird.
3. My favorite singer is Frank Sinatra. There is nothing better than the classics.
My favorite place on campus is Presidents Row and the lawn out front. Not only is this where I met my best friends, it is amazing for laying out a blanket and doing homework, in the warmer weather, that is.
Get to know your professors. Your professors care about you, want to know you, and want to help you when you are struggling. Stop by their office hours and get to know them. I promise, you won't regret it.
