Hi, my name is Kat and I am a junior here at the amazing UNC! I am majoring in Sports and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy with a minor in Spanish. My home town is Northglenn, Colorado. My biggest reason why I chose UNC was because I felt a sense of belonging right away that I didn't find at any other school I had visited. The faculty and students were so helpful and caring and I wanted to be a part of a community just like that. Due to the smaller size of UNC, I was also able to connect on a deeper level with those people who I came in contact with through similar interests. For example, I am a part of the Taekwondo team on campus along with the Physical Therapy Club and a part of the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center community. This allows for me to gain close relationships that I might not have had at a bigger school. As I further my education at UNC, I will begin to apply for graduate school in hopes to continue to persuade my dream of becoming a physical therapist which will require a Ph.D. This will allow me to work with athletes of all ages and work with the Wounded Warrior Project which is where my true passion lies.
1. My Parents and I own a martial arts school and I am a 4th degree black belt in
Taekwondo. I am an instructor at my school and I absolutely love teaching my students
to do their best!
2. I absolutely love Star Wars And I have watched the series more than I like to admit. I have more merchandise than most people. (I know I'm kind of obsessed)
3. I am a part of the ESL community, which means English was my second language and Spanish was actually my first.
My favorite place on campus is the recreation center. I just love being active and there are so many sports and activities you can get involved in!
Don't just stay in your residence hall room! Although it may be comfy, there are so many activities, clubs, and teams you can become a part of and make new friends and find new passions!
