My name is Danielle, and I am starting my fourth year at the University of Northern Colorado! I am an Elementary Education major with an emphasis in mathematics and an English as a Second Language endorsement. I am a native Coloradan, as I was born in Denver. I have moved all over this beautiful state -everywhere from Boulder to Westminster to Loveland!-, and I’ve been in Loveland for the past 11 years. I fell in love with Northern Colorado upon moving here, and I will always consider it to be home. I started my educational journey at Aims Community College and transferred to UNC after receiving my Associate’s degree in liberal arts with a concentration in Elementary Education. As a transfer student, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I definitely knew that I wanted to become a UNC bear. Arriving for my first semester, I was immediately welcomed into the community with open arms as I admired our beautiful campus. The University of Northern Colorado has pushed me to be a better version of myself and has become a second home. I am a first-generation college student, and with the help of the staff and my peers I am working hard to make my family proud. I was lucky enough to become a Student Ambassador and New Student Orientation Leader and can't wait to share my experience with anyone interested in our wonderful school. After I get my bachelor's, I plan to teach for a number or years then move on to graduate school to work my way into administration and curriculum. Then, eventually, I'd like to go back to get my Ph.D and teach at college level.
1. I am absurdly obsessed with anything to do with Sloths, Owls, Coffee, and Sparkly
Nails. (If you can find a sloth stuffed animal for me, we will immediately become
2. I have a cat named Princess Butterscup - he's a boy but definitely a princess, and he can never get enough cuddles.
3. I have a strong passion for helping kids understand the power of knowledge which comes from my two lovely, younger sisters who mean the world to me.
My favorite place on campus is the McKee Breezeway! I love doing homework there and watching the many Bears that pass by on their way to and from class.
Don't be afraid to challenge yourself, make new friends, and try new things! UNC is full of opportunity and the memories you make here will last a lifetime. It may get tough, but everyone here is more than willing to help you succeed.
