Snyder Hall

History

Snyder Hall was completed in 1936 in the plan that included the construction of Sabin and Tobey-Kendel Halls. This building project was federally aided by U.S. President F. D. Roosevelt's RFC and PWA organizations.

Named for

Contrary to what many have believed, Snyder Hall was not named for Zachariah X. Snyder, president from 1891-1915. It was named for his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Snyder. She was actively involved in many facets of the school. She also helped organize YWCA on campus.

Current Use

Snyder Hall remains a Residence Hall today. The building was renovated as part of the Central Campus Residence Halls project.
