History
The UNC Laboratory and Special Education Facility was completed in 1962. Bishop-Lehr is located on land that was once part of the Petrikin Farm. The Petrikin Farm was purchased during the presidency of William R. Ross and became what is now known as West Campus.
Named for
Bishop-Lehr is named for two outstanding professors. Ralph T. Bishop taught industrial arts from 1917-1933. Elizabeth Lehr was a nationally known children's reading specialist. Lehr served from 1926-1959 as a faculty member of Ernest Horn Elementary.
