We invite you to come enjoy and learn at the University of Northern Colorado Athletic Training Camp.

Athletic Training is an exciting profession that is growing fast. Athletic Trainers have many responsibilities working with athletes to prevent injuries, rehabilitating athletes back from injury, working with coaches, and also working with doctors. Athletic Trainers are employed in many settings, such as: high schools, clinics, college/universities and professional sports, as well as industrial settings.

We have a strong Athletic Training tradition here at the University of Northern Colorado. The UNC Athletic Training program is a National Accredited Athletic Training Program and has had a curriculum clinical program for over 15 years. We have a high success rate of educating our students and employing them throughout the country. Our staff is very dedicated to teaching skills to students to prepare them for the profession.

Cost

RESIDENT CAMPERS $300
NON-RESIDENT CAMPERS $200

Housing

Campers will be housed in a campus dormitory. All facilities are within walking distance of the residence halls. Camp instructors will also be housed in the residence halls to assist the campers with any needs. A $55 refundable key deposit is required at check in. Campers will be housed three per room. Campers will be provided bedding, towels, and pillows. Dining services will be within walking distance. Meals are included in camp fee.

Non-Resident Campers

Students who do not stay in dorms are responsible for transportation to and from camp. Students will be expected to be at all sessions. Lunch and dinner meals will be included with camp fee. There is free parking available on campus during the camp in special lots.

Facilities

All lectures will be held in technology enhanced classrooms on the UNC campus. Labs will be held in the athletic training room. Supplies and material will be provided for labs.

Registration

Campers should register in advance by completing the application form in the brochure. The check- in site registration procedure and residence hall information will be mailed at a later date. 

Fees

Campers fee includes: camp tuition, housing, meals, and educational booklet. Once camp activities start there will be no refunds for early departures.

Other Information

Cancellation notices must be received by June 15 refunds. Campers will have 24-hour supervision. Campers who violate residence hall policies will be sent home with no refund.

Camp Staff

Director of the camp is Jim Turk, Clinical Coordinator at UNC.  He has over 9 years experience as an athletic trainer and is on the athletic training faculty at UNC.  He has worked at both the collegiate and professional levels.  He is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association as well as the Rocky Mountain & Colorado Athletic Trainers’ Associations.

Additional staff including athletic training faculty, clinical instructors and current UNC athletic training students will be involved during the camp to give students more opportunity for individualized instruction.  Camp staff have a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences in athletic training.  They are all excellent educators and have a strong education background to support their teaching.

Thursday

  • 2 pm - 3 pm Registration
  • 3 pm - 5 pm Orientation/Lecture
  • 6 pm - 7 pm Dinner
  • 7 pm - 8 pm Lectures

Friday

  • 8 am - 9 am Breakfast
  • 9 am - 12 pm Lectures
  • 12 pm - 1:30 pm Lunch
  • 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm Labs
  • 4:30 pm - 6 pm Dinner
  • 6 pm - 8 pm Activities (games, computer labs, guest speakers)

Saturday

  • 7 am - 8 am Breakfast
  • 8 am - 12 pm Lectures
  • 12 pm - 1 pm Check Out

Parents Release and Indemnity

I (We) as parent(s) or guardian(s), hereby request that you accept the application for enrollment of  ________________________ in the 2009 UNC Athletic Training Camp during the dates set forth in this application and in consideration of you acceptance of this application, I (we) hereby release the University of Northern Colorado, the Athletic Training Education Program, and camp staff members from all claims on account of injury sustained by the above named camper while attending the 2008 UNC Athletic Training Camp.  I (We) agree to indemnify the Board of Trustees of the University of Northern Colorado and all of its employees and the camp staff for any claim which may hereafter be presented by this camper as a result of such injury.
