Certification
The nationally certified ASA Tutoring Center offers free tutoring designed to facilitate academic success at the college level. Tutors are certified through a national certification program administered by the College Reading and Learning Association, and must meet subject-specific and cumulative GPA requirements.
ASA Tutoring Center Services
Tutors provide free group and individual tutoring to UNC undergraduates and also to graduate students enrolled in undergraduate courses. Each semester, the ASA Tutoring Center offers tutoring in approximately 130 different courses in Business Administration, Math, the Social Sciences, and the Natural Sciences.
A list of courses supported by the ASA Tutoring Center each semester is available at the ASA Tutoring Center office or on our web site.
How the Center Works
The ASA Tutoring Center is located in the lower level of the Michener Library in room L149 and is open weekdays. Satellite centers are located in Harrison Hall and in Kepner. Harrison is open evenings Monday-Thursday and Sunday. For Kepner hours, call 351-1904.
Students should schedule appointments in person at the receptionist’s desk in the Office of Academic Support & Advising (Michener L149). A UNC student ID is required in order to schedule the first tutoring appointment. Appointments for tutoring are strongly recommended; walk-in slots are subject to availability. Both group and individual tutoring sessions are available.
