The tutoring program at the Academic Support and Advising Center provides students with broad-based, high-quality tutoring services designed to facilitate academic success at the college level. Tutors provide free individual and group tutoring sessions in approximately 130 different courses.
Math Tutoring Lab

The Math Tutoring Lab offers free, drop-in service for anyone with a valid UNC ID Card. The Lab is staffed by faculty and undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics or mathematics education. The Lab is equipped with group work tables, marker boards, graphing calculators, computers and some reference materials.

Supplemental Instruction (S.I.) is a specialized tutorial program offered in over 200 universities throughout the U.S. and designated an Exemplary Program by the U.S. Department of Education. At UNC, S.I. supports 15-18 large, liberal arts core classes each semester. A tutor is selected for each S.I. class and conducts three tutorial sessions each week throughout the semester for students enrolled in these classes. Typical S.I. classes include the following: Africana Studies, Biology, Chemisty, Economics, Environmental Studies, Geography, History, Philosophy, and Political Science.

The UNC Writing Center provides free, one-on-one writing tutoring for all UNC undergraduate and graduate students. We work with students on writing assignments from all disciplines, not just English. Our tutors are English faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates. We also hold workshops for students about different aspects of writing.
