Tony Salazar is the Executive Director of the Colorado Education Association, the largest membership association for teachers and education support professionals in the state. Tony has served in this role since 2008. Prior to his current position, Tony served on CEA’s Government Relations staff as a legislative lobbyist for seven years, specializing in state fiscal issues including the annual school finance legislation. Tony also has work experience in higher education as the Associate Budget Director for the University of Colorado System and as non-partisan legislative staff with the Colorado General Assembly.
In addition to his service on the UNC Board of Trustees, Tony serves on Governor John Hickenlooper's Education Leadership Council.
Tony is a Colorado native and a product of North High School in Denver Public Schools. Tony received an academic scholarship to attend the University of Denver where he double-majored in Political Science and English and graduated with Honors.
Tony resides in Denver with his wife and three children - two sons and one daughter who attend Cherry Creek Public Schools. Tony spends his free time with his children and their multiple school, sports and community activities.
