14 Silver Linden

(Tilia tomentosa )

There are several varieties of lindens on campus. The silver linden reaches heights up to 115 feet, with a trunk up to 7 feet in diameter. The leaves are alternately arranged, rounded to triangular-ovate, green and mostly hairless above, and with a coarsely toothed margin. The pale yellow flowers have a strong scent and attract honeybees.
