29 Japanese Tree Lilac

(Syringa reticulata )

The Japanese Tree Lilac is a species of lilac that is native to eastern Asia. It is a deciduous small tree, growing to a height of up to 45 feet, with a trunk up to a foot in diameter. The largest species of lilac, it’s the only one that regularly grows as a small tree, rather than as a shrub. Tree number 29 on the West Campus Loop is the cultivar “Ivory Silk.”
