Special Topics: Reading the Civil War (Oct 26)

Our continuing series on studying the Civil War 150 years after the actual event includes this fall's workshop focusing on close reading of multiple Civil War artifacts that come alive as informational texts, including diaries, letters and maps. You will have the opportunity to think like a historian, a cartographer, and a president, and of course like a teacher, as you explore strategies for enhancing your students' skills in critical thinking and evidence building. For teachers who do not teach the Civil War, these strategies and similar resources can be applied across content areas.
