Margo Barnhart
Margo Walsh Barnhart is a career educator. She has served as Superintendent of Schools, High School Principal, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services, Special Education Administrator, Special Education Teacher at all levels K-12, and an Elementary Classroom Teacher.
Dr. Barnhart is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Teacher Education and is Coordinator of the Elementary PTEP Program. She works with schools in the Greeley/Evans, Weld Six District; Fort Collins, Poudre School District; Loveland, Thompson School District; and the Windsor Schools, as well as many charter schools and other public school districts.
In addition to her many years in public education, Dr. Barnhart and her husband, Jerry, founded, developed, franchised and sold a chain of supplemental learning centers called Dreamcatcher Learning Centers.
She has conducted and published research in the areas of special education, early childhood education, at-risk learners, inclusive schooling and diversity. Dr. Barnhart believes passionately that ALL children can learn successfully when taught carefully!
The mother of five children, Dr. Barnhart enjoys time with family, travel, reading and walking. Her eight grandchildren are a tremendous source of joy and pride for her.
Dr. Barnhart earned her Doctorate in Education from Harvard University with a major in Administration, Planning and Social Policy. She holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida in Tampa and an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Oglethorpe College in Atlanta. Dr. Barnhart has served in the public schools of Florida, Massachusetts, Colorado and as an elected School Board Member in New Hampshire.
