The Bear Hug Project
STE Faculty members want to help UNC teacher candidates to serve Greeley and surrounding communities and grow professionally and as persons. On this site, you can
- Have an idea for a project? Please complete this form and submit to the STE office. Please be sure to include your contact information. Let us know how UNC students can help. We are looking for projects that are safe, provide our students with volunteer opportunities to learn about the community, about children and families, and teaching. Any one can contribute an idea.
- We will select an STE faculty member to help lead a project. The faculty leader will oversee the details of the project with students and the community partner.
- Next, we will issue a call for student volunteers. We work mainly with teacher candidates, but other UNC students are also welcome to participate. If a project involves working directly with children, students need to pass EDFE 110, or have their background checked in some other way.
We will greatly appreciate any donation to the Bear Hug Project. The project is run by volunteers, and nothing will be spent on management. All funds will support UNC student volunteer activities in Greeley and surrounding communities. The money will go to buy appropriate materials for projects. Make a gift on-line. It is a secure on-line transaction. If you want to donate for a specific project, enter the name of the project in the Comments box. You can also contact Michael Muskin to talk about a donation, if you do not want to use the on-line form.
