Annual Events

Welcome Back!

Join us for another amazing year with Community Connections.  We have many exciting things already planned for this year.

We have started recruitment for the 2008 Spring Break Service Trip.  Applications are now available.

Below are some of the other events that Community Connections sponsors:

Volunteer Fairs

There are two volunteer fairs each year, in October and February. The fairs allow area charities and organizations the opportunity to find general purpose and special event volunteers. Many students become involved in their communities by volunteering their time and we are happy to provide that link.

Make a Difference Day

UNC Make a Difference Day is an annual event involving college students in a half day of simultaneous charitable community services.  Community Connections makes it easy for busy volunteers to be involved by doing all the planning for you.

CANstruction

CANstruction - this unique nonperishable food drive debuted Fall Semester of 2002. It inspires students' creativity as well as their generosity. Student organizations compete by building sculptures out of canned and nonperishable food which UNC then donates to the Weld County Food Bank. The first competition yielded 541 pounds of food. The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is an event run nationally by the Salvation Army that provides gifts to children at Christmas. Community Connections sets up two trees on campus, and anyone in the community can select a child's angel (description of desired gift) from the tree. Volunteers drop the gifts off at the Community Connections Office. We receive an overwhelming response to the event every year and thoroughly enjoy making a special child happy on Christmas.

Senior Prom

A special event planned for Greeley's senior citizens, the prom is a magical night of dancing and mingling. It is a great excuse to get gussied up.

Volunteer Recognition

Every year Community Connections likes to recognize volunteers that make a difference in the lives around them.  Join us in helping to recognize outstanding volunteers.

Bear Essentials

At the end of the academic year, students moving out of the residence halls often have a large quantity of belongings they no longer wish to cart home. Community Connections takes this opportunity to pick up those items and, in connection with SPEEC, holds a garage sale to help support the Spring Break Service Trip.
