Welcome to Stryker Institute!

Ronda Stryker and former UNC President Hank Brown happily dedicate Stryker Institute to the University in the Fall of 2001.
The Stryker Institute for Leadership Development was launched at UNC in the Fall of 2001 with the generosity of the Ronda E. Stryker and William D. Johnston Foundation, and with firm support from the University itself. The Institute’s purpose is to advance the leadership development of talented students from under-represented groups of females such as ethnic persons, non-traditional aged students, and individuals with substantial financial need.
The Institute provides students with leadership seminars, an accompanying educational scholarship, opportunities to exercise their emerging leadership skills, and a sustained program of support.
Staff members associated with the Institute believe that students’ potential for leadership can be strengthened by recognizing the talents they already possess and challenging them to build on these talents.

There is royalty among us!
The staff of the Women's Resource Center and Stryker Institute would like to congratulate our own Letisha Brown, or as we fondly call her "Queen Letisha" for her appointment as UNC Homecoming Queen! We are so proud to have her among us "commoners" and wish her well in her reign during the next academic year! Please stop in to offer your congratulations, and don't miss her upcoming presentation, "A Student's Adventures in Istanbul, The Imperial City" during which she will talk about her adventures while participating in the UNC study abroad program. The presentation will be held on November 18, 2009 in the University Center's Columbine A Room at 5:30 pm. Come, bask in the glow!
