Student Success Defined
News and Events
The Student Success Advisory Council meets every other Friday, 10:00 - 12:00 in the UC Council Room.
The successful student achieves individual educational goals and acquires life skills necessary to work and function in a rapidly changing global society.
We measure “individual educational goals” by graduation rates, retention rates, successful transfer, completion of specific goal, employment, satisfaction with university experience, admission to graduate school and professional schools. We measure “life skills” by CAS standards, employment, portfolio and student learning outcomes grounded in student development theory.
The Student Success Advisory Council embrace the following values, grounded in student development theory, to help us foster student success:
- Student centered culture
- Facilitating connections and collaboration at all levels
- “Mattering”, a sense of belonging and connectedness
- Challenge and Support our students, with goal of empowerment
- UNC Honor Code: honesty, trust, respect, integrity, responsibility
- Wellness
