Grant Funding Databases

Community of Science Funding Opportunities - The Community of Science (COS) is a global resource for funding information for all disciplines.  COS Funding Opportunities allows you to search more than 23,000 records representing nearly 400,000 opportunities worth over $33 billion. First-time users will be asked to create an account in order to log onto the COS system. Once a personal account is created, it is easy to log into Community of Science and search for grant opportunities to match specific project ideas. Through the Community of Science, you may also generate a curriculum vitae or a PHS 398 biosketch; you may set up automatic email notices to receive results from your saved searches; and you may track saved searches. GrantSearch - The GrantSearch database is provided through UNC's membership in the Grants Resource Center (GRC), an office of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The GRC provides resources to help state universities and colleges  increase their competitiveness in seeking federal and private grants. The GrantSearch database contains information on nearly 2000 federal and private funding programs that are of interest to higher education institutions.

GrantSearch is a subscription service requiring connection through a UNC account.

Foundation Directory Online - Search the Foundation Center's online directory by keyword or phrase for funding opportunities from private and community foundations, corporate grantmakers, public charities, other non-profits, and well as federal agency resources. The Foundation Directory contains information on over 92,000 foundations and corporate donors and 1.3 million recent grants.

The Foundation Directory is a subscription service. It is accessible from any computer with Internet connection, but you will need to contact Arlene Hansen to obtain the required username and password.

Grants.gov - Grants.gov  is an access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies. It also provides a registration service to receive email notices of new grants and modifications to existing grant programs when they are announced by the funding agencies.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance - The online Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) provides access to a database of all Federal grant programs with many ways in which to search for programs that match your project ideas, including searching by functional area, by agency, by program title, and by keyword. 

Federal Register - The Federal Register is the Federal government's official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices from Federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents. The table of contents can be searched to find new grant programs as soon as they are announced. 

FundSource Database - FundSouce is a database specific to behavioral and social science research.  It includes descriptions, contact information and web links to the Federal agencies, foundations, and international organizations that fund behavioral and social science research.

TRECC - The Technology Research, Education, and Commercialization Center links businesses, education, and the government with next-generation technologies and facilitates responsive, comprehensive exchanges of information. The TRECC Funding Opportunities Databases provides a searchable list of most Federal grant funding opportunities, Federal contract procurements, and major foundation programs, allowing entrepreneurs to connect with this valuable funding source.

Grants.net - From the American Association for the Advancement of Science, GrantsNet is a database of current funding opportunities in biomedical research and science education. It contains programs that offer training and research funding for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty, as well as programs in science, math, engineering, and technology for undergraduate faculty and students.

NSF Update - The National Science Foundation Update Service allows users to register for email notices announcing new grant opportunities and other NSF news by specific NSF directorates.

NIH Guide for Grants & Contracts -The National Institutes of Health Guide is the official publication for NIH Grant Policies, Guidelines, and Funding Opportunities. Subscribe to the Guide to receive weekly emails of the week's table of contents. The TOC includes a link to the current Guide as well as links to each Request for Applications, Program Announcement, and Notice published that week.

The Foundation Center - Subscribe to receive the weekly email RFP Bulletin, recently announced Requests for Proposals from private, corporate, and government funding sources.

The Art Deadlines List - receive the monthly email newsletter listing art scholarships and grants, art contests and competitions, juried exhibitions, art jobs and internships, calls for entries/ proposals/ papers, writing and photo contests, residencies, design and architecture competitions, funding, and other opportunities  for artists, art educators and art students of all ages.
