Student Organization, Leadership and Advisor Recognition (S.O.L.A.R.)

 

Nominations for the SOLAR and AEW

 

Perspective:

  • The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Student Activities Office and Student Senate are proud to feature the Student Organization, Leadership and Advisor Recognition (SOLAR) and Academic Excellence Week (AEW) awards. These awards honor the contributions of students, student organizations and advisors to the University community through ethical decision making, a commitment to service, constructive ambition and excellence in the advancements of both academic knowledge and human understanding.

Awards:

  • SOLAR - Student Organization of the Year

    • Any student organization affiliated with UNC, chartered with the Student Activities Office or in good standing with the Office of Greek Life (Sororities and Fraternities) or Recreational Sports (Club Sports Teams).
  • SOLAR - Student Organization Event of the Year

    • An event hosted by a UNC student organization that provides benefit to the University, campus and area community.
  • SOLAR - Student Organization Advisor of the Year

    • A UNC administrative, faculty, or staff member who voluntary advises a UNC student organization.
  • SOLAR & AEW - Undergraduate Student of the Year

    • Any member of the undergraduate student body who has current, full-time enrollment status at UNC and is not on probation of any kind with the University.
    • This student will also:
      • Display a value of diversity.
      • Embrace humility and gratitude.
      • Show initiative and tenacity in a positive manner.
      • Demonstrate respect for others through reciprocity and collaboration.
      • Establish and build meaningful relationship(s) with peers and University professionals.
      • Foster the betterment of the campus and community.
  • SOLAR & AEW - Graduate Student of the Year

    • Any member of the graduate student body who has current, full-time enrollment status at UNC and is not on probation of any kind with the university.
    • This student will also: Display a value of diversity.
      Embrace humility and gratitude.
    • Show initiative and tenacity in a positive manner.
    • Demonstrate respect for others through reciprocity and collaboration.
    • Establish and build meaningful relationship(s) with peers and University professionals.
    • Foster the betterment of the campus and community.
  • AEW - Faculty Member of the Year

    • Any individual who officially teaches at least one UNC course, graduate or undergraduate.

Benefits of Participation:

  • Official UNC recognition and honor.
  • Networking opportunity to establish and cultivate relationships amongst student leaders, advisors, UNC administration and staff, alumni and community mentors.

 

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible for these awards, any students must have current, full-time enrollment status at UNC and not be on probation of any kind with the university.
  • To be eligible for these awards, a student organization must be chartered with the Student Activities Office or be in good standing with the Office of Greek Life (Sororities and Fraternities) or Recreational Sports (Club Sports Teams).
  • In addition, recipients are expected to value diversity of perspectives, demographics, life experiences, disciplines, and expression among students, recognizing these differences to be both stimulating and beneficial.
