SOCIALLY CONSTRUCTED CLUB

This service organization consists primarily of sociology majors and minors but it is open to any University of Northern Colorado student who is interested in participating in the activities of the club. This club is registered as a U.N.C. student organization. Following are some activities of the Socially Constructed Club during the past 2 years.

  1. Raised funds for the American Red Cross for victims of hurricane Katrina
  2. Sponsored a student event, pumpkin for a pumpkin
  3. Took 16 at-risk teenagers to a U.N.C. football game
  4. Hosted the Sociology Spring Fling Awards Banquet
  5. Participated in Walk for the Cure
  6. Participated in Cans to Candelaria, a canned food drive for Weld Food Bank; received 3rd place for clubs
  7. Hosted a “socially constructed secrets” event at the University Center
  8. Submitted a plan for re-decorating the graduate student lounge/ seminar room
  9. Participated in a drive for United Way to acquire needed baby items such as formula, diapers, etc.
  10. Hosted the annual Spring Fling Awards Banquet
  11. Chose and awarded the first annual Community Service Award which included gift certificates to restaurants and a plaque for a community person who has volunteered on family issues.
