Matt Downey
Matt Downey coordinates the Social Science major. He also directs the Interdisciplinary Studies Liberal Arts major and the Hewit Institute for History and Social Science Education. Dr. Downey joined the UNC faculty in 1996. Previously he directed the Clio Project in History-Social Science Education in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley. He formerly was Professor of History at the University of Colorado, the University of California at Los Angeles, and Louisiana State University. He has a Ph.D. degree in American History from Princeton University.
