Technology Tutorials

Region VIII is continuing to upgrade the technology we use to make trainings more relevant and convenient. However we realize that with new technologies come new questions about how to make everything work. This section is designed to provide you with information and help on how to utilize our new features.

Accuconference (Our New Desktop Learning Environment)

This is our new, easier to use and more accessible learning environment in which the user can participate in trainings from his or her own desktop. It is as easy as dialing up the 1-800-704-9804 and entering the code # that we will send to you prior to the training. You will listen to the training over your phone (teleconference) and can follow along with the Powerpoint which will be available under the corresponding training activity on our "Training Activities" webpage.

As you listen to the training teleconference system you also have the option of watching the training on the enhanced desktop classroom environment called "Insight" which can be linked from https://www.accuconference.com/customer/webjoin.aspx. and uses the same password code as the teleconference. In this classroom environment you can just follow along as the instructor controls the lesson and have the ability to ask questions through a chat box. In order to access the Insight system you will need to have the "accept cookies" and have Java script on your system (99% of computer have this already). blackboard logo

CHAT ROOM TUTORIAL
To get on the chat room, go to "Communication" then "Collaboration" then hit the "Join" button.  You will then get a pop up with the chat box in it.  If you are having problems then you have to turn off your Internet Explorer "pop up blocker" by going to "Tools" at the top of the screen then "Popup Blocker" then "Turn off Popup Blocker".  Also if your computer does not have Java on it, it will ask you to download it.  Most have it already installed though.
