UNC Research Planning, Reports, and Statistics
The University of Northern Colorado is a doctoral research university, classified by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as "Doctoral Universities: Higher Research Activity" (R2). UNC's Carnegie Classification changed with the 2015 update, released on February 1, 2016, advancing from "Doctoral/Research Universities" (R3) to "Doctoral Universities: Higher Research Activity" (R2). UNC was one of only 16 universities nationwide that was promoted into the "Higher" category.
UNC has been developing and implementing strategic planning that engages the entire campus community in its formation and implementation.
