Directed Study
A Directed Study is the opportunity for you to receive credit for an individualized investigation under the direct supervision of a UNC Faculty member. The investigation must be a specific topic that is not duplicated by an existing course. A course credit agreement form must be approved by the supervising faculty and signed by the Director. This form is kept on file in the School you are doing the study.
- A maximum of 2 directed studies for a total of 6 credits can be taken in a semester.
- Apply through the School in which you are doing the study.
- Register for directed studies in person at the Registrar’s Office in Carter Hall 3002.
- Directed studies cannot be used for general education credit. For more information refer to the UNC Catalog or contact the Registrar’s Office at 970-351-2231.
