The Ready Set Register process is currently being tested in orientation sessions for the incoming undergraduate population for fall. In effect, they are serving as a "pilot group", to detemine how well the process works and what kind of instructions, if any, are needed to guide students through it. Based on that experience, we'll likely fine-tune it and release it to the full population in time for the advising/registration cycle for Spring 2009.
When logging onto Ursa to view course schedule information and prepare to register, every student will always see a Ready Set Register menu with one or more items to be completed before registration can occur. (At a minimum, every student must verify address/phone information each term prior to being able to register). Most students will have a few additional obligations to cover as well.
For the initial RSR rollout, any given student could potentially see:
· a display of the student's holds, along with a full explanation of each one;
· current address/phone information, as well as an input screen for providing changes;
· a screen where the alternate PIN (advising code) can be keyed in;
· a screen where the student's cell phone number can be keyed in for emergency contact purposes;
· a screen where the student (undergraduate Colorado resident) can authorize the COF stipend for the term;
· a series of screens where a new student can satisfy the Lawful Presence identification requirement.
Any given student will see only those items that he or she is required to fulfill, and which have not yet been already fulfilled. The RSR "hold" is merely an indicator that one or more of the items on the student's RSR list remains unfulfilled. That indicator is automatically removed from the student's record when the last unfulfilled RSR item is taken care of.
An Ursa Help Sheet is also being developed to explain the concept. Some demos will be scheduled so that anyone who is interested can see it in operation. RSR content will change and evolve over time as institutional needs change.
