Designed for working RNs with full-time jobs, this flexible online program offers a practical, affordable path to an Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) credential and national certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

UNC’s graduate certificate program offers top-notch instruction and expert faculty, and places special emphasis on evidence-based practice. This part-time, online graduate program prepares you to manage patients in acute care, critical care, specialty units, rehabilitation centers and long-term care facilities. You’ll acquire skills to deliver care to patients with critical, acute and chronic illnesses. The course sequence takes about 20 months to complete and includes four distinct practicums, totaling about 540 hours of clinical training.

Vicki Wilson, Ph.D., M.S., R.N.
Professor of Nursing; Ph.D. in Nursing Education Program Coordinator

Vicki Wilson, Ph.D., has worked as an advocate for at-risk university students and under-served and vulnerable residents in the Greeley community and around the world. She recently helped Sunrise Community Health Center in Greeley develop a community partnership model and obtain grants totaling more than $200K—an effort that served 2,765 patients. 

Wilson is the recipient of both the Centennial and the Colorado Nightingale Awards, which acknowledge outstanding nurses whose hard work and dedication in advocacy, innovation and leadership improves the health of others. Her research interests are leadership styles and mentoring, administration, nursing student stress, childhood obesity, and vulnerable and underserved populations. She is also a consultant evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities.
