Location:  UNC’s new Centerra Center in Loveland     Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Discover the power of primary sources from historic newspapers to explore the concept of media literacy in this 8 hour TPS workshop. Join us and explore classroom activities using news articles, political cartoons, and advertisements. We will focus on two newspaper collections, the Library of Congress’s Chronicling America and the Colorado Historic Newspaper Collection, and investigate ways to use these pages from history to promote student media literacy, a critical 21st century skill.  Plus we will focus on leveraging Web 2.0 tools to promote citizen journalism among students.  Lunch will be provided. Can earn college credit.

Pre-requisite: At least 4 hours of an introductory level TPS workshop. (If you have not already participated in these initial workshops, meet this pre-requisite with the workshop at Centerra October 10.)
