President's Email to Campus - July 9
Dear Students and Colleagues,
I am deeply troubled by the allegations of unlawful sexual behavior by a member of the UNC community, which you may have heard about. If these allegations are true, this behavior in no way represents the University of Northern Colorado.
The individual who was arrested has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with our policies, and he is not allowed to be on campus or in contact with our students. I have consulted with the Attorney General’s office, and Mountain States Employers Council will be conducting an independent investigation of the facts and circumstances surrounding the allegations. The law enforcement investigation is being handled separately by the Greeley Police Department, which made the arrest.
As you know, personnel matters are confidential; however, I want to assure you that we absolutely do not tolerate or condone the behavior that has been alleged. If you have concerns or information that could be relevant to our investigation please contact Human Resources Director Marshall Parks at 351-2718 or the Dean of Students Office at 351-2796.
Allegations such as these are jarring to our campus community and can affect individuals in different ways. The UNC Counseling Center offers professional support for UNC students and employees, and I encourage you to call 351-2496 for an appointment if you would like to speak with someone.
As members of the University community, we share the responsibility for creating a respectful, caring and inclusive climate on our campus. I appreciate what you do to make UNC an inspiring place to learn together.
Sincerely,
Kay Norton
