The agenda for the Summit provided an opportunity for campus leadership to respond to the first draft plan. Participants were organized into ten groups; each group was assigned a member of the Design Team as a resource person and a group facilitator. The groups were asked to answer three questions, 1) What do you like about the draft plan? 2) What concerns do you have about the draft plan? And 3) What suggestions do you have? This report provides a summary of each group’s discussions and ideas. The statements are unedited and are presented here for information. Leadership Summit Two - December 15, 2003Guiding principles for Charting the Future (CTF) serve as the cornerstone for directing the comprehensive planning process, including the activities, timelines, and campus community involvement. Open communication, value and respect for people, the value of discourse, civility and integrity are elements of the principles that form the foundation for the Leadership Summit held December 15, 2003. The summit, the second of the series was designed to accomplish three objectives: 1) to present information about the Design Team's principles, process and commitments for reviewing and analyzing the reports received from units, and to briefly review the budgeting process for FY 05, 2) to gather information from campus leadership about the process to date, together with suggestions to enhance the process as we move forward; and 3) to provide an opportunity for leaders to share and discuss priority ideas from their units about the future for the University. Comments gathered from the feedback and priority activities were documented to inform the Design Team. Here are the compilations of comments: Here are the documents used by Summit participants:
Leadership Summit One - September 19, 2004The “Charting the Future” planning success is grounded in the knowledge and hopes of its many constituents at UNC; thus it is essential that the campus community have opportunities to provide suggestions, state concerns and issues, and present questions about the activities and process. The Leadership Summit served to initiate this representative process that seeks comments and suggestions from faculty, staff and students. Another goal for the Summit is to empower campus leadership to engage in discourse with their respective constituencies about the draft documents and to encourage campus participation throughout the process. One hundred fifty leaders serving UNC gathered at a Leadership Summit on September 19, 2003. The Summit was designed to present and discuss two Draft documents considered to be the foundation for developing the “Charting the Future” comprehensive plan. The Draft documents were the report format and criteria and activities and timelines. Comments and questions were submitted by the Summit participants. Each small group in the Leadership Summit of September 19 was asked to review the draft of the report format and criteria and the activities and timeline. Facilitators recorded comments and colected questions from index cards on each table. Answers have been provided to the compiled comments and questions.
