Timely Warnings

UNC Police are investigating a case of unauthorized access that occurred Tuesday night, Aug. 5, in Michener Library. They have arrested three suspects in connection with the incident and the theft of laptops and building keys. The investigation is ongoing, but at this point there’s no indication that sensitive information has been compromised or that the keys have been used elsewhere. Police are heightening patrols on West Campus and encourage you to be mindful of safety precautions, alert and aware of your surroundings. Please report suspicious activity to UNC Police at 351-2245. The Greeley Police Department has informed us of an investigation involving a possible homicide off campus near the intersection of 20th Street and 4th Avenue. There have been no reports in this crime of involvement by members of the campus community. In light of this information, we'd like to remind you of some safety precautions:

· Be alert and aware of your surroundings.

· Be cautious of strangers.

· Walk with others at night and stay in frequently traveled, well-lighted, open areas.

· Don't get so engrossed in text messaging or iPod surfing you forget to look around.

Please remember if you see a suspicious person or activity on campus to contact the UNC Police Department at 351-2245, which you're encouraged to program into your cell phone. Call the Greeley Police Department at 350-9600 to report a suspicious person or activity off campus. Always use 911 in the event of an emergency.
