The UNC Police Department works to create strong partnerships with numerous departments on campus. One of the police departments most important partnerships is with UNC Housing and Residence Life. Because of the unique experiences associated with on-campus living and housing, we have established a Liaison Program. This program is designed to provide an opportunity for increased communication between each residence hall and the Police Department. One officer is assigned to each residence hall, or group of residence halls, to act as the liaison between that residence hall and the Police Department. The liaison officer is there to provide safety and security programming to each residence hall, to answer questions that staff or residents may have, and help to anticipate concerns or address general safety issues if identified. Below is a list of which residence hall each liaison officer is assigned, and their e-mail address. You can contact the officer assigned to your hall if you have specific questions about safety or security, or if you have concerns or ideas.
In partnership with the University’s Cultural Centers, the UNC Police Department has expanded the liaison program to include the cultural centers starting in the 2015-2016 academic year. This will provide opportunities for increased safety related services and communication between our growing student population and the police department.
The program is not designed to assign one officer to each residence hall or cultural center to handle routine calls for service. If there is a need to call the police for an emergency, to report a crime, or any other issue, call the UNC Police Dispatch at 351-2245 (or call 911 in case of an emergency) and the on-duty officer will respond.
