Communications and Records Division
Our Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our very experienced and well-trained staff is responsible for dispatching UNC Police officers to calls, which include emergency, non-emergency and service incidents.
They also provide dispatch services for UNC Facilities and Operations and after hours call-out. In addition, the communications staff works with Weld County Communications to provide fire and emergency medical services on campus.
Our communications personnel maintain UNCPD records, the Weld County Crime Stoppers telephone line, and the after-hours telephone line for the UNC Assault Survivors Advocacy Program (ASAP).
Our dispatchers are also responsible for the operation of several computer systems, including (but not limited to) the Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC), the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and various fire- and alarm-monitoring systems.
You can reach a dispatcher any time of day by dialing 1-2245 on campus, or (970) 351-2245 from any phone.
Obtaining copies of police reports
Copies of police reports can be obtained by requesting a copy from the Communications Center in Gray Hall, on Central Campus. Although the dispatch center is staffed 24-7, records requests are only accepted during business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. There is sometimes a cost associated with obtaining a copy of the report.
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute 24-72-203, Public records open to inspection, our agency may require up to three working days to complete the request. If the request is a broad or in-depth request, the applicant will be notified of the time required, which can be up to seven additional working days.
