Our Location

During the summer of 2006, the Philosophy program moved. The main office and faculty offices are now on the third floor of McKee Hall on UNC’s west campus.

Prior to the move, our offices were located in Weber House and Smith House (located at 1015 20th St. and 1007-1009 20th St. respectively).

Sad to say, during the summer of 2006, both buildings were demolished along with Joyner House, which used to house the International Students program, to make way for additional parking spaces. Sic transit gloria mundi. The new place isn’t all that bad though. Come see us. Help us feel at home!

McKee Hall was built during the presidency of Darrell Holmes and was completed in 1968. The building was funded as a result of the shortage of nurses and teachers and named for Paul V. McKee, one of the most prominent scholars in the field of elementary education.

McKee Hall currently houses the College of Education (Teacher Education Programs), Special Education, COSMOS, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Statistics, Social Science, Chem Quest, Educational Technology, a large number of classrooms, and a large number of faculty offices.
