For those of you who were around when Tom tried to ally half of the class on my side, and half of the class on Emily’s, I want to go back to the topic of "Did the River Speak to Achilles?"
For those of you who missed out on that entertaining conversation, I'm referring to page 527 if the Iliad, where the river gets up and starts yelling at Achilles. In class, I suggested that Achilles was a crackpot (or something of that sort), and there's no way a river could get up and talk, and the whole discussion was goofy.
...Then I went home and thought about it, and this idea of talking rivers actually seemed possible. It was so interesting that I decided to write my essay on it. I'd like some feedback from my classmates! You can find it here. Let me know what you think about this!
