Grant Funded Positions
To facilitate the process of hiring personnel to work on grant funded projects, UNC has designated two exempt administrative positions that are commonly used on grants. The Position Description Questionnaires (PDQs) for these positions are approved for use by Human Resources, saving the Principal Investigator the task of developing a complete PDQ for each hire.
The PI need only add information, if applicable, concerning any unique physical demands or unique working conditions related to the position, and attach a list of the specific duties and responsibilities unique to the position being filled, including supervisory responsibilities and specialized abilities.
Use of the Grant Project PDQs will not change the procedures involved in hiring; Principal Investigators should follow the personnel procedures of the department or unit through which the grant is operated.
Grant Project Directors (GPDs) will typically be hired to oversee and direct the implementation of a grant or contract funded project at the University; will supervise all project personnel, and will supervise the maintenance of project accounting and programmatic objectives and activities. The salary range will be dependent upon expertise, experience and requirements of the specific position.
- Salary Range: $31,891 - $50,898
- Median Salary: $38,216
Grant Project Coordinators (GPCs) will typically be hired to coordinate and manage specified portions of the sponsored program under the supervision of the Project Director and/or the Principal Investigator (PI). The salary range will be dependent upon expertise, experience and requirements of the specific position.
