Transfer and Non-Traditional Student Orientation
Note: Orientation is optional for transfer students and required for ALL freshmen students. To make your reservation, please follow the links in the lower right.
Transfer students may make arrangements with their academic department to meet with an advisor and receive a PIN to register for classes.
Our final session will be held on August 21 and is for all incoming transfer, non-traditional, and international students starting in the fall semester. Below is detailed information for that session:
Moving in to your Residence Hall
Because you are attending this Orientation session, you will be able to move into your assigned residence hall as early as Wednesday, August 20, 1:00-5:00pm (other new residents do not move in until Thursday). You do not need to make any special arrangements as Orientation will be providing Housing and Residential Education a list of students who are scheduled to attend this session. Please note that you will not be able to move in before 1:00pm on Wednesday.
** If you choose to move in on Wednesday, you will be billed $25 to your student account.
If you are moving on campus on August 20, plan to arrive early and go to the University Center (2nd floor) to get your UNC ID (you will need your Bear Number). This will allow you access into your residence hall and room. Otherwise, you can get your ID during Orientation.
Please refer to the Housing and Residential Education website for general Move-In Information.
** If you are not living on campus in the fall, you must make your own overnight arrangements during Orientation.
If have you purchased your parking pass (through URSA beginning August 1, 2014), you may pick that up in Parking Service's office 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday or the weekend of August 23-24, 11am-3pm. Parking will not be enforced the week of August 18-22 but will begin Monday, August 25.
** If you will not register for classes until Orientation, you cannot purchase your pass until after registering and pick it up that weekend.
You may check-in to Orientation in the University Center between 8:15am and 8:55am. Parents of transfer students will receive Parent Orientation information at the check-in table with the student.
August 20: All meals on your own. Dining Services will be open on campus for cash purchases.
August 21: Breakfast is on your own; Dining Services will be open on campus for cash purchases. Lunch is provided to students and registered parents. Students' meal plan begins at dinner.
For this session, parents and guests will not be able to stay on campus but may refer to our local hotel listings for lodging information.
