Moving in to your Residence Hall
Because you are attending this Orientation session, you will be able to move into your assigned residence hall as early as Monday, August 18, 3:30-5:00pm (other new residents do not move in until August 21). You do not need to make any special arrangements as Orientation will be providing Housing and Residential Education a list of students who are scheduled to attend this session. Please note that you will not be able to move in before 3:30pm on Monday.
Cost to you: If you choose to move in before Orientation, you will be billed $25 for Monday night to your student account. Orientation will cover the cost to stay in your room on Tuesday, August 19 and Housing and Residential Education has waived the cost for Wednesday, August 20.
If you are moving on campus on August 18, plan to arrive before 3:00pm and go to the University Center (2nd floor) to get your UNC ID (you will need your Bear Number). This will allow you access into your residence hall and room.
Please refer to the Housing and Residential Education website for general Move-In Information.
** If you are not living on campus in the fall, you must make your own overnight arrangements during Orientation.
If have you purchased your parking pass (through URSA beginning August 1, 2014), you may pick that up in Parking Service's office 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday or the weekend of August 23-24, 11am-3pm. Parking will not be enforced the week of August 18-22 but will begin Monday, August 25.
** If you will not register for classes until Orientation, you cannot purchase your pass until after registering and pick it up that weekend.
There are two check-in times, both in the University Center:
8:00-8:25am - for students and family members participating in the I'm First Workshop (students whose mother and father did not obtain a four-year degree). The first session for the workshop begins at 8:30am. You will also check into housing for the evening at this time and our staff will transport overnight bags to Wiebking Hall for you.
9:15-10:25am - for students and family members not participating in the above-mentioned workshop. You will first check into Orientation and then into overnight housing.
The first session for all students and family members will begin at 10:30am in the University Center.
Pre-registered family members will check in with the student. Online pre-registration for Parent Orientation is available until Wednesday, August 13.
Any students or family members who need to walk-in can do so during either of the check-in times.
