Bachelor of Science, Sport and Exercise Science

Sports Coaching

The Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Coaching program's mission is to provide the opportunity for students to enhance their coaching knowledge, teaching, and expertise while improving their existing coaching practices. Sports Coaching majors pursue a diverse body of knowledge in sport sciences that includes exercise physiology, sport pedagogy, adapted physical activity, biomechanics, motor learning and development, sport administration and law, and sport psychology among other areas of study. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to maximize their own coaching strategies and practices, and become leaders in their prospective sporting fields, by supporting the eight current coaching domains outlined in the National Standards for Sport Coaches (National Association for Sport and Physical Education [NASPE], 2006).
