University of Northern Colorado Challenge Course

As an academic program, we primarily teach ropes course classes for UNC students while also accommodating a few campus groups. Our offerings to outside groups are limited and generally involve either youth development programs or special needs clients. Questions may be referred to Dr. Jim Stiehl at 970-351-1417 or jim.stiehl@unco.edu.

While specific activities vary according to participant needs, most programs include:

Students learn to trust
  • Welcome and introductory discussion
  • Review of individual and group goals
  • Warm-up activities
  • Discussion of physical, emotional, and environmental safety
  • Group initiatives and problem-solving activities
  • Spotting techniques and low ropes elements
  • Safety demonstration and high ropes elements
  • Entire group wrap-up discussion

Let us customize an adventure program for your group or organization, and join our skilled facilitators for a day of fun and learning at the Challenge Course!
