TYPICAL 6-HOUR LOW and HIGH ELEMENT COMBINATION
- 9:00am—9:15am
- Group arrives and is greeted by staff. Participants are able to get
settled and are given a brief introduction to the Challenge Ropes
Course by a staff member.
- 9:15am—9:45am
- Begin program with warm-up games (icebreakers, get-to-know-you activities,
name games, etc.)
- 9:45am—Noon
- Transition to different group activities, games, and initiatives
designed to get participants working together. Begin to address specific
group goals, such as communication, trust, leadership, etc. Depending
on the group’s level of functioning, increasingly challenging
initiatives and low elements will be incorporated at this time. Continue
to discuss team goals and to develop skills such as communication
and leadership.
- Noon—12:30pm
- Lunch. Participants should either bring their own bagged lunches
or have their event catered. Groups are highly discouraged from leaving
the Challenge Ropes Course unless absolutely necessary.
- 12:30pm—1:00pm
- Participants are shown how to properly put on their harnesses, are
given an overview of the afternoon’s schedule, and are taught
basic safety guidelines for participation on the high courses.
- 1:00pm—3:45pm
- In small groups, participate on selected high elements. Participants
will take turns challenging themselves and supporting their fellow
group members as they complete different components of the course.
For example, on the Pamper Pole element, an individual climbs to
the top of a 45-foot telephone pole and jumps off the top while being
belayed by their other group members. This activity is meant to develop
group trust.
- 3:45—4:00pm
- Final group meeting to provide some closure on the day.
