Graduate Program Admission Procedures

You must apply to the University of Northern Colorado Graduate School before the department reviews your request for admission. To apply, submit the following materials in a single packet along with the application fee. Failure to submit all required materials will delay the evaluation and screening of your application. 1. A completed UNC Graduate School application form
2. Two official transcripts from every accredited college or university attended since high school (except UNC)
3. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) on the most recent 60 hours of coursework for master's candidates and on the most recently completed degree for doctoral candidates
4. Two letters of recommendation for master's students and three letters of recommendation for doctoral candidates
5. A current resume
6. A written statement of career goals
7. Official copies of GRE scores (less than 5 years old) for doctoral candidates. GRE scores are not required for master’s program applications. Doctoral applicants meet the Graduate School minimum criteria for admission if they have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on the most recently completed degree, scores of at least 400 on both the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE General Test with a combined score of at least 1000 and an analytical writing score of at least 3.5. A higher GRE score can compensate for a lower GPA and a higher GPA can compensate for a lower test score. For doctoral applicants who do not meet Graduate School requirements, the Graduate School will consider departmental recommendation for admission.
8. The Sport Administration program and the Exercise Science program will begin reviewing applications February 1 and the Sport Pedagogy program will begin reviewing applications February 15.
