UNC Recreation Club
The Mission Statement of the UNC Recreation Club is:
To further educate students in the areas of recreation
and leisure by providing university and community service opportunities,
and by increasing awareness of the recreation and leisure profession.
To this end, the club was quite active in 2003-2004:
The UNC Recreation Club met weekly Fridays at noon starting in September,
2003. Club activities in the fall semester included a tour by members
of the Haunted Corn Maze, and a bowling event. Amber McDonald volunteered
for the “Fly a Kite for Peace” event in Denver. During the
Spring 2004 semester, a big fundraising event was held. “The Battle
of the Bands” was jointly sponsored by the UNC Recreation Club and
Bears Sports Grill. Six bands participated over 3 Fridays in April, with
the final Friday being April 16th. Over $600 was raised, and the Club
plans to hold future Battle of the Band events. The UNC Recreation Club
also sponsored a softball team that had a winning season, and came in
third overall.
