NHS Events
During UNC's Family and Friends Weekend, the College of
Natural and Health Sciences
hosted the following events in Gunter Hall and Ross Hall on Saturday, September 20th
between 10:00-11:30 AM:
Gunter Hall Events (view pictures below)
- Reception – light food and beverages were served on the main floor of Gunter Hall
- Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences undergraduate and graduate students performed hearing screenings in the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Clinic
- Dietetics faculty demonstrated “Portion Distortion: Changes in food portion sizes over the years”
- The School of Nursing showcased their high fidelity human patient simulator and simulation labs
Ross Hall Events (view pictures below)
- Reception – light food and beverages were served in the main lobby of Ross Hall
- The School of Biological Sciences performed measurements of EKG, blood pressure, skin resistance, and other human body functions using the computer interfaced BIOPAC system
- The American Chemical Society Student Affiliate performed chemical demonstrations
- Computer Science faculty controlled a robot through computer programming
- The Earth Sciences program showcased their tornado machine and weather classroom
- Mathematics Education did an interactive demonstration of a middle/high school mathematics activity
- The Physics program demonstrated the NASA DemoSat project as well as focused on student robotic projects
- The School of Mathematics faculty performed hands-on demonstrations of the physics principles that determine the shapes of films and bubbles, as well as, conducted a discussion on problem-solving episodes for parents and students
