Ashley Walker, Ph.D.Adjunct Professor of Community Health
Ashley Walker received her PhD in Health Studies, Community Health, Texas Woman's University, this past Spring 2008. She completed both her M.Ed. in Sport Administration & Health Promotion and B.S. in Exercise Science from her alma mater, Northwestern State University. Dr. Walker began teaching at the University of Northern Colorado Fall 2008. Prior to her arrival to UNC, she was a Lecturer and Undergraduate Health Promotion Coordinator for the University of North Texas. She has worked in a variety of health education settings including college health at Texas A&M University and corporate wellness at The Boeing Company. Her research interests include global health, health advocacy, and community-based participatory research. She recently completed a participatory action research study in Sierra Leone working with a non-governmental relief organization to identify the factors which impede and promote the health of world orphans living in Sierra Leone. She is a member of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) and the Colorado Public Health Association and looks forward to further involvement in service to both her profession and community. |
