Dennis S. Agosta, Adjunct Faculty
B.A. in Physics, Rutgers University
M.S. in Physics, Colorado State University
Ph.D. in Physics, Colorado State University (2006)
Research interests include: elastic properties of metals; hydrogen diffusion dynamics in metals; temperature dependence of the elastic constants of singe crystal, poly-crystalline, quasi-crystalline and nano-crystalline metals; phase changes in shape memory alloys; helium bubble damage and changes in elastic properties of annealed metals and nano-materials.
Current research involves using Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy to measure grain boundary dynamics and elasticity changes in annealed nano-crystalline palladium and other nano-structured materials (collaboration between Colorado State University and Universität des Saarlandes).
Dr. Agosta has taught at UNC since 2008.
